UEFA set to refund Manchester City £33.4m from FFP fines

UEFA are set to refund Manchester City £33.4 million (€40 million) the Premier League club complied with sanctions that were imposed for breaking Financial Fair Play rules.
In 2014 City were found guilty of breaching UEFA’s rules and as a consequence were fined €60 million, were given transfer restrictions and also had to name a smaller Champions League squad.
The sanctions were imposed on the condition that two thirds of the €60 million fine would no longer have to be paid should all of the operational and financial measures that UEFA issued be met.
As a consequence, City will receive a €40 million refund from UEFA, while Paris Saint-Germain have also met the requirements set out by European football’s governing body after they also received sanctions.

Despite managing to reach the semi-finals of the competition last season, City were eliminated from the Champions League at the Last 16 stage this time around by Monaco, who have since made it through to the semi-finals.
