It is no longer news, especially to those who are
current on national issues, that President Muhamondu Buhari has
released 23 federal Universities Governing Council lists. What's news now is how dis councils will be alive with their responsibilities & do justice to their assignments & distance themselves from acts of corruption rocking our ivory towers.
I mustn't forget to use this medium to Register my
felicitation to the beneficiaries especially Professor
Ibrahim Gambari and Ambassador Nimota Niniola Akanbi.
No doubt, the release of these names will of course change many activities in some Universities as things may not be d same again. A
case study is dat of University of Ilorin where the VC ship Context
technically might have taken a new shape as from the day d council was appointed. At this
point, I wish all the intending candidates best of luck.
Though, It is quite unfortunate that my University, our
University and indeed a better by far University has suffered its first position in the Universities' log and going by my
understudies, many factors are responsible for its retrogressive
position (5th position) in respect to the two recent ratings.
However, the ratings have also cleared the biased
impression holding by some people that only the University
stable calendar serves as tonic that boost the nutrients of
University to be in the forefront. Despite the fact that the
University sustains her royal rare calendar, yet she dropped
the points. This reality teaches us that many reasons are
behind it. Those reasons are scheduled for another day
interactions.
At this juncture, let me forward my passionate appeal to our
relevant stakeholders across board to look for a more
competent face as next Unilorin VC that can take the
University of Ilorin to a glorious land and get back on track.
I am very concerned at the moment because apart from d institution being my Alma mater, d institution is located on d soil of my town, which naturally arose my sentiments. I'm not equally happy dat the standard of the University is fading out little by little. I am very concerned because It has been my tradition to share my take on sundry issues which this is also among, and other several reasons.
In conclusion, I welcome Dr Abdullahi Oyekan to the one of the most peaceful Universities across Nigeria and Africa by
extension and to remind him that his 4 years stay as
Chairman governing Council University of Ilorin will surely
add to his Academic and appointment journey so far and to
also remind him that history starts where events end. I wish
you and your other members a successful 4 years tenure.
