Kwara APC Primaries: Saraki pockets APC publicity secretary, Onilu to exchange candidates

The publicity secretary of the All Progressive Congress, mall Lanre Onilu is said to be working for Sen. Gbemisola Saraki ahead of the 2019 general elections, This medium reports.

The source who confided in this medium revealed that Mallam Lanre Onilu who is a very close ally of  senator Gbemisola Saraki is using his influence as a national executive to exchange names of prospective candidate to be the party's flag-bearer in the forthcoming election at all level in the state.

An aspirant who spoke with our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, because of the sensitivity of the issue, revealed that he was also approached to pledged loyalty to Gbemisola Saraki caucus to get the party ticket.

In Kwara South, the candidate for Offa/Oyun/Ifelodun Federal Constituency Gbenga Power of Ajasepo was replaced with an engineer from Oyun local government, the same way Senator Suleiman Mankanjuola Ajadi that won from Ifelodun was replaced with Architect Lola Ashiru from Offa. The implication of which is that contrary to the zoning in Kwara South, Igbomina who are the most populated tribe has been shut out

Similarly, In Irepodun/Isin/Ekiti/Oke-Ero federal House of Representative,

Hon. Ajulo, from Omu-aran/Irepodun Local Government who was earlier assumed to have won was replaced with Accountant Gbenle Adeyemi.

The most populated Local Government in Kwara South being Ifelodun/Irepodun, Isin

Who are mainly Igbominas have been shut out of elective positions, while the ruling PDP dropped a serving senator to pick Governor Abdulfatai Ahmed from Ifelodun who is from Igbomina axis to sweep the axis' votes. In 2015, the PDP picked Hon. Alayoyo who won Ekiti, Oke Ero and Isin, while Late Hon. Funke Adedoyin won only Irepodun to emerge winner of the house of Representatives seat. In avoidance, Hon. Raheem Olawuwo Ajulo who was presumed to be the winner of the Primary replaced with Gbenle Adeyemi.

The implications of which had shown that Kwara South senatorial seat including the Presidential and house of Representatives elections which is expected to hold same day, may likely go the way of the PDP as a result of selection from the minority tribe.

A source stated, "It is a deliberate plot to donate the state to the PDP, as this same scenario happened when Mallam Lanre Onilu as the then director of media and publicity, Peoples Democratic Party, Gbemi Saraki, Barr. Toyin Bamu (then state Secretary of People Democratic Party) and Olawoyin Magaji defected two days to 2015 general election to join Bukola Saraki in a bid to frustrate the effort of genuine freedom fighters in Kwara State."

In Kwara Central, Olawoyin Magaji who came fourth place as the flag-bearer of the party for Ilorin Central Constituency.

Reports unraveled that they are also approaching other house of assembly aspirants to pledge loyalty to Sen. Gbemisola Saraki for their names to be submitted to INEC despite not winning the primaries.
