A former Board Chairman of the Kwara State Polytechnic, Alh. Saadu Alanamu was this morning sentenced to 7 years in prison by Justice Mahmud Gafar of the Ilorin High Court for abuse of office, and receiving gratification from contractors freshinsight.tv can report.
Alanamu who was dragged to court with two others, by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), was accused of insider abuse in contracts award under his watch as Board Chairman for a TETFund financed project for the State owned polytechnic.
It would be recalled, Alanamu was remanded in prison custody on April 18, 2018, by the presiding Justice Mahmud Gafar before he was later granted bail.
Ironically, Alanamu was nominated as a board member of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) by the then acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo in 2018, the nomination which was later withdrawn before his screening at the Senate.
Alanamu was accused by ICPC for receiving the sum of five million naira (#5,000,000) as kickback from the contractors which he helped facilitated the contract against laid down rules.
