HKwara Assembly Passes State Hospital Management Board Bill into Law
The Kwara State House of Assembly has provided legal backing for the establishment of the state Hospital Management Board, following its passage of the state Hospital Management Bureau Bill the at its Thursday sitting.
Under the law,the Board is to discipline and monitor the performance of over 2000 staff of the hitherto Hospital Management Bureau for effective management of healthcare delivery system across the state.
The Board ,which is to also ensure posting of its staff to avoid lopsidedness of staff in hospitals across the state will have a medical practitioner of high repute and integrity as its Chairman.
The Chief Medical Directors of Hospitals across the state will also be able to give approvals for their spendings to ensure prudent management of resources and increased productivity in hospitals across the state.
The designation of the Director - General who must have at least 10 years requisite experience and qualification in health management has now changed to Executive Secretary, to conform with conventional practice.
The Speaker, Dr Ali Ahmad while directing the Clerk Hajia Halimat Jummai Kperogi to prepare a clean copy for the outgoing Governor's assent, expressed confidence that the passage of the bill into law,will rejuvenate quality healthcare service delivery system across the state.
