Sen Oloriegbe Felicitates with Nigerians, lauds Buhari recognition and commend of June 12

*Next Level Inauguration:* *Oloriegbe Felicitates With Nigerians, Lauds President Buhari's Recognition and Commemoration of June 12*

The Senator-Elect, Kwara Central Senatorial District, *Dr. Ibrahim Yahya Oloriegbe* had today felicitated with  Nigerians worldwide in the commemoration of power transition and inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari as the elected President of African most populous nation for the second time in succession.

Media aide to the Senator-Elect, Bolaji Aladie in a statement stated this in Ilorin as Oloriegbe congratulates Nigerians and good people of Kwara State on the 20th anniversary of unbroken democratic government in the country while also lauding President Muhammad Buhari's recognition and commemoration of the annulled 1993 Presidential Election,  adjudged to be Nigeria's freest and fairest election, won by the late Business Magnate *Mashood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola.*

In his words, the erstwhile Majority Leader of Kwara State House of Assembly said, "Today occasion gives us reason to celebrate the restoration of democracy to Nigeria. It signifies an end to military rule and beginning of democratic system of government. So, in an essence, it is to celebrate freedom. Freedom from tyranny and exploitation. Freedom towards equality, equity, good governance and representation. It is freedom of the people, by the people and for the people. And, I am of the strong belief that this freedom, is a new found thing, most felt in my State of harmony, Kwara.

"Today is also a day to honour the struggles, determination and most especially sacrifices paid on the path of this freedom. On this, I salute the resilience of my people back at home, and Nigeria in general, as they rightly fought for their democratic right and freedom during the last general elections.

"Amidst the uncertainties, they kept alive their struggles from the beginning to the end to achieve that. I give them my utmost commendation.

"I hereby make this promise to my people, that the mandate and confidence reposed in me will be judiciously used to serve their interest by the grace of Allah. I will justify exceedingly through selfless and quality representation. I shall also make it mandatory upon myself to work with fellow Federal Lawmakers from my State and our Governor, in order to capably overcome the huge challenge of rebuilding Kwara state so as to meet the yearnings and expectations of our people.

"To all Nigerians, I pledge my possible best and untiring commitments, at all times, to relentlessly pursuit the enactment of laws that are crucial and important to the development of our country." He said.

On the recognition of June 12 to replace May 29 as democracy day, Oloriegbe said,  "The President declared last year in June, while conferring posthumous honour on Chief Mashood Abiola, to replace May 29 with June 12 as Democracy Day in Nigeria. I'd say it's a bold decision and a thoughtful one at that. What better way to highlight the significance and meanings of democracy than to declare the very day Nigerians came out enmasse to vote for a democratic government, away from the shackles of military regime, only to be deprived later, by annulment, of the most free and fair election in the country ever?

"It is a right step in the right direction. The date is very significant in the annals of Nigeria's history. It is befitting as it is to be picked as Democracy Day. Mr. President should be lauded for it."
