KWARA ASSEMBLY SUSPENDS 16 LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMEN
You will recollect November 17 2017 KWASIEC held Local Government Area Election that brought the then APC Chairmen to power
The then opposition protested against the Elections results but their voices were not heard
Today Kwara State House of Assembly has resolved unanimously that the sixteen local councils in Kwara state be suspended forthwith pending their investigations. This is against Kwara state high court ruling of last week by justice Umar which forbids Kwara state government or any of her representatives including the House of Assembly from dissolving or suspending the elected council officials
The house made the decision during the plenary presided over by Speaker, Rt Hon. Yakubu Danladi on Tuesdey. This follows the deliberations on petition against the councils leadership.
A petition raised before KWHA against d 16 local govt councils over maladministration since their inception by one Saidu Aliyu. House Leader presenting the petition on behalf of the petitioner.
The nature of the petition and the petitioners are still unknown as at press time but none of the chairmen has been investigated nor indicted by any lawful government agency since inception of their office in November ,2018.
