*KWARA LAWMAKER BEMOANS WORSENING CONDITION OF STATE OWNED MEDIA HOUSES
A member of Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon Barrister Abdulgafar Ayilara earlier today lamented the status quo of the state owned media houses, saying the situation has degenerated to embarrassment and on a brink of collapse.
Ayilara, representing Ajikobi/Alanamu Constituency of Ilorin West, on the platform of the APC, disclosed this in llorin while on assessment visit of the legislative committee on information headed by its chairman, Hon Awolola to Kwara state media houses adding that the organizations does not depict the standard known for state of Harmony.
Hon Ayilara who is a member of the committee expressed worries over lack of working tools, insincerity of past state government to reposition the media houses and poor working conditions
Apart from deficient & outdated equipments, lack of power to the media houses, Ayilara also bemoaned poor condition of offices, non-payment of salaries to workers and failure to release operational fund.
"We have been to Kwara tv at apata Yakubu, Radio Kwara, the situation is terrible, midland FM at budo efo has fold up, currently not on air; this is saddening to see what our state media houses has degenerated to, we can't continue like this"
"For efficient operation, we must as a new Government ensure the revival and upgrade of these organizations to a world standard, anything less, we would become a laughing stock of other states in the country"
The Deputy chairman of the committee, Hon Awodiji however promised that the information legislative committee after its findings would submit its resolution to the house for implementation to reposition the state owned media houses.
Hon Barrister Ayilara however, expressed optimism that the new administration of Alhaji Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman would address the plight of the state media organizations as the Governor is set to take Kwara state to the next level.
