Group Lauds, Aisha Pategi Over Support for Primary Education

Babatunde Abdulrasaq

Governance encompasses much more
beyond constitutional roles and
responsibilities. Sometimes what the
society needs is not billions of naira but a
compassionate heart and a generous
hands. These exceptional qualities are
very rare to find in an individual. That is
why nations always do not hesitate to
shout for joy the moment they find one.
Fortunately for the "Moro Community",
their joy knew no bounds starting the first
day Hajia Aisha Ahman Pategi visited
them unexpectedly.
Pending her arrival, primary education in
the community was nothing different
from the case of a breast feeding mother
not having enough to eat. This led to some
members of the community volunteerring
as parent paid teachers through the Early
Child Care initiative (ECC). These
community funded teachers were paid
5000 Naira monthly.
This to some who do not value education
is sufficient enough but to a kind hearted
person like Hajia Ahman Pategi,
commissioner designate from Pategi. She
knew that the story wasn't different from
a begger feeding on the crumbs that fell
off a conmparatively poor but better man's
table.
Instantly, with a heart full of pains and
compassion, she was moved to add #5000
naira to thier monthly stipends. Some
would have thought that it was just a
mouth watering promise like some
politicians will always do. However, her
case was different. Starting from day one
of the first month till date, many schools
in Moro community have been benefitting
greatly from this benevolent act.
Hajia Aisha Pategi is a proponent of
quality education for kids and one of her
favourite quotes is:
_Primary education is the foremost,
essential and basic right of every child.
Accessibility of children to quality
education is not only the duty of
government but also of we caring
parents.
What more can the society desire? It is
believed, with more women like Hon.
Aisha Pategi in government who know
fully well that Primary education is the
incubator for the next generation of
leaders will effect the much needed
change in our educational sector.
