NEWS: RAN ESTABLISHED YOUTH DEVELOPMENT CENTER FOR KWARA YOUTH
A Non-Governmental Organization, Re-Orientation Advocacy Foundation of Nigeria (RAN) has donated a Youth Development Center for Skill Acquisition and training of Kwara Youth, Speaking In Ekan-Meje, Oke-Ero Local Government Area at the 6th Charles Olufemi Folayan Annual Lecture which featured the Commissioning of the center, the Executive Director and Founder of RAN Mr. Charles Olufemi Folayan said the establishment of the center in Ekan is borne out of the commitment of the NGO to mentor and build young leaders and problem solvers for the State and the Country at large.
He said “as the Nigerian Government focuses on economic diversification and local product development, it becomes urgent need for us to create an environment where youth can get the opportunity to develop their skills, creativity, innovation and character to fit into economic realities, thereby providing opportunity for them to have value for exchange of money and wealth.
He said “the Center named Asoju Odo Youth Development Center was established to begin Re-Orientation, education, capacity building, skills training, mentoring, business cooperative, micro credit, entrepreneurship education, financial literacy, technical assistance and market connections for Entrepreneurs and local producers both at local and international markets.
He further explained that the initiative is in line with two of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely SDG1, “End poverty in all its forms everywhere” and SDG8, “Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic and decent work for all”.
He said, the center would be managed by Middlebelt Advanced Schools LTD and would build partnership with individual, Government and Non-Government organizations to facilitate supports, grants, engagement and employment of successful trainees.
