The Arabic Manuscript in the Ilorin Emirate:: our govt will continue to support every initiatives - Kwara GovGov
A REMARK BY HIS EXCELLENCY, ABDULRAHMAN ABDULRAZAQ, EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF KWARA STATE, ably represented by Permanent Secretary ministry of works, Alh Garba Manjo
THE LAUNCH OF THE ARABIC MANUSCRIPTS IN THE ILORIN EMIRATE IN ILORIN, KWARA STATE, ON DECEMBER 7TH, 2019.
Protocols:
I’m glad to be here this morning to witness this historic event of the launch of the Arabic Manuscripts in the Ilorin Emirate. I congratulate the author of this book and everyone who has supported the initiative to this stage.
For me, this occasion offers another proof that we are never ignorant people or a people without a proud history of learning and distinction — contrary to the claims of some Eurocentric scholars and their local collaborators who see education only from the lens of western education. I am aware for instance that the earliest documented scientific history of Africa was written in Arabic text. That was centuries before the Europeans arrived in Africa.
Specifically, however, the book we are launching today once again spells out the unique place of Ilorin in the Muslim world and its enviable position in scholarship.
As a government, we will continue to support every initiative that would sustain the glory and heritage of our community, among which is Islamic education. I have given my words that we will listen to advice and recommendations by our scholars — and indeed all voices of reason — in the overall interest of our community.
A key priority of this administration is inclusive and qualitative education and our steps so far have shown the direction we are headed to put Kwara State on a sound footing.
Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, let me assure you that we will lead by example and serve people sincerely as God has commanded. We will respect the right of everyone and ensure that every segment of our state is carried along in our programmes. Yesterday, I charged the incoming cabinet on the need to ensure that the views and sentiments of their constituents are reflected in the conception and execution of our programmes. We will never claim to know it all because no one can know it all.
Apart from working for peace and harmony at all time, I urge every segment of our state to continue to support our administration as we get down to work for the general wellbeing of the people and progress of our dear state.
Thank you.
