PRESS BRIEFING: Compt. Mohammed Promised Nightmares for Unrepentant North Central Smugglers.

Compt. Mohammed Uba Garba on Thursday, 16th January, 2020 offered press briefing upon taking the barton of leadership as the Joint Border Operation Drill Coordinator from his predecessor in charge of North Central States, Sector 3, Ilorin, Kwara State. While showing his appreciation and determination to dutifully deliver in his capacity as the Coordinator of the Joint Task Force, he took his time to commend the role of media and enlighten border communities, Traditional Rulers, Rural Dwellers, IPMAN and the general populace on the benefits of the ongoing border closure across the nation.

He clarified that all Land Borders were only partially closed for the betterment of our dear nation's economy, security of her citizens and for our neighboring countries to abide by the ECOWAS protocols. Also,he pledged to help address the issue raised by the Speaker Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Saliu Danladi when the latter visited him on difficulties being experienced by Kwara communities nearer to the border.
"Part of our mandate is to stop
fuel supply to 20 kilometer radius to Border communities, the mandate
which we will implement to the latter.
It will be recalled that the Speaker Kwara State House of Assembly paid
a courtesy visit to my office on the scarcity of fuel being experienced at
the border Communities. We promised to visit all the affected border
communities, a promise which we have kept." Compt. Mohammed said.
Whilst highlighting the benefits of the border closure as improvement in Banditry, Kidnapping, Illegal migrants, Farm produce sales and Revenue generation, he also reestablished the fact that Smuggling is a crime and his team shall treat anyone who indulges in it as criminal.
He rounded off his briefing by categorically stating that the border closure is not targeted at any individual, group of people or any community rather it is strictly for blockage of revenue leakages as Col. Hameed Ali led Custom Service has zero tolerance for Corruption and revenue leakages. Officers of the Task Force would therefore continue to cause unrepentant smugglers Nightmares.
