Oloriegbe Visits Moribund Ilorin West Garri Processing Factory
Promises empowerment to the womenfolks after the renovations
As part of his efforts towards provision of sustainable livelihood for the people of his constituency, the Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Sen. Dr Ibrahim Yahya Oloriegbe was, yesterday, at the Ilorin West Garri Processing Factory* located at Ita Nma Area of Ilorin to inspect the ongoing renovations which he facilitated funds for, to bring out of its sordid state.
The moribund factory had been in a pitiful and unproductive state over the years due to neglect and poor maintenance. The lawmaker had, in an earlier visit, toured the factory to assess the level of dilapidations and degradations of its structures while also having a first-hand experience of the very poor and unpleasant working conditions of the workers there who are predominantly women. He had also met with the administrative officers of the local government for them to submit a proposal for the factory's revamping.
There and then, the lawmaker released funds for the immediate renovation of the factory which also includes the repair of old and provision of new equipment.
In this latest visit, the Senator was there to assess the ongoing renovation of the factory wherein he expressed satisfaction at the rate and level of work done so far. In a spirited discussion with the people working there, Oloriegbe listened to their work challenges and problems, shared enlightening ideas with them while also expressing his desire and determination to make them fully self-reliant and independent of politicians or anybody to survive.
At this end, Oloriegbe stated that he will, after the factory's complete renovation, engage more people to work in the factory while promising to empower them all with the provision of Cassava Tubers, which he said is the major production resource and as such the very one to ameliorate their situation.
