The FA's official statement on new Premier League rules in full
Players caught diving in English football next season could receive retrospective two-match suspensions as a result of new measures brought in by the FA.
From the start of next season a new offence of ‘Successful deception of a match official’ will come into effect, the FA has announced.
Under the new rules, when there is clear evidence that a match official has been deceived by simulation and there has been a direct consequence, such as a penalty being awarded or a red card given to a player from the opposing side, the FA will now be able to take retrospective action.
67 players in the Premier League been booked for diving in last three seasons.
Incidents will be reviewed by a panel consisting of one ex-match official, one ex-manager and one ex-player, who will assess video footage independently.
Any player that is unanimously found guilty of diving will be given a ban.
