KWARA NEEDS INDUSTRIALIST
Kwara state as one of the oldest states in Nigeria came into being in the year 1967 during the military era headed by the then Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon. Dissolution of the Four Regions that made up the most populated country in Africa with about one-sixth of the Sub-Sahara African population, Nigeria gave birth to Kwara State.
Kwara State, a home of PEACE and HARMONY encompasses ILORIN and KABBA PROVINCES of the then Northern Region that was known as West Central State and later changed to KWARA State, a local name for the river NIGER. It's pertinent to know that IDAH/DEKINA was also part of Kwara State that was carved out and merged with a part of then BENUE/PLATEAU State to form today's BENUE STATE, on 13th February, 1976.
On 27th August, 1991, OYI, YAGBA, OKENE, OKEHI and KOGI were the five local government areas of the state that formed a state called KOGI STATE while BORGU local government Area joined NIGER STATE.
Kwara State with sixteen (16) local government areas relied on AGRICULTURE as the only means of survival. The state which Is blessed with able and hard working manpower.
However, Governments had come and gone, both the military and civilian with promises of turning this state to an industrial haven for both local and foreign investors. But the promises still till today remain a mere dreams as a result of lack of commitment and implementation from the governments.
Digging down the historical background of KWARA economic sustainability, no one will not reflect, attribute or refer to AGRICULTURE as the sole economic sustainability of the state because the North Central Zone state Is blessed with the principal cash crops such as COTTON, COCOA, COFFEE, KOLANUT, TOBACCO and PALM PRODUCE..
Kwara as one of the fastest growing state in term of population density in Nigeria, have her government and governed focussing their attention to the white collar jobs which is turning to be the genesis of unemployment scourge that's beating the state now as the resources of the white collar jobs can no longer cater for the citizens again. Government had been trying to redirect citizens' attention to artistry but majority had tasted the juice of government works consequently making indifference in the work class a chronic illness for the youths.
All politicians both the old and the introducing always promise to introduce new economic system, but without provisions for the immediate needs of the citizens.
A new market will soon be open. Different commodities would be made available by different producers. Marketers would try their possible best to knock down the confusionists. And In order not to be a confusionist and to be able to buy the best commodity; exercise calmness, apply your strategies and awake you wisdom.
