ISSUANCE OF CITIZENSHIP TO NON-INDIGENES, A THREAT THE FUTURE OF THE YOUTH AND A HUGE LOSS OF IGR TO THE STATE GOVERNMENT - IEYDA

The *Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association (IEYDA)* has lamented the rate the non-indigenes of Kwara State are getting the Citizenship of the State through the back door.

According to the Association, the future of the Youths of the State is being threatened and the State Government is also loosing a huge amount of Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) as a result of the erroneous issuance of Citizenship to non-kwarans, because non-indigenes uses the Citizenship to gain employment quotas meant for Kwarans, and instead of paying the School fees slated for non-indigenes, non-kwarans now pay the same amount Kwarans are paying, simply because they have our Citizenship, which in turns sums up to loss of Millions of naira on the part of the Government.

*It was on this note IEYDA called on the State Government to use all machineries within its disposal to put a stop to this, and give needed supports to the Association for us to complement government's efforts.*

*The Association reiterated that she is interested in anything that will bring progress to Kwara State, Kwarans and keenly interested in the success of this current administration of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.*

The *President* of the Association, *Alh. Abdullahi Babatunde Salaudeen* and the *National Publicity Secretary, Alh. Mohammed Uthman Jagunma,* during a meeting with the *Council of Alangua's and Magaji's* within Ilorin Emirate Community at the *Emir's Palace* on *Sunday 29th September 2019,* expressed their displeasure with the rate non-indigenes are shortchanging the Indigenes of the State by gaining Admission into the State and Federal Institutions and getting employment slots meant for Kwarans, most especially, in the Military, Paramilitary and Federal Parastatals.

They added that admission process has now become very competitive for Kwarans because non-kwarans are also claiming to be from Kwara State since they also have our Citizenship.

The Association also called on all the concerned stakeholders, ranging from the Balogun's, Daudu's, Alangua's, Magaji's, KWIRS, Director of Personnel Managers across the Local Governments, Citizenship Officers across the local governments and Community Development Associations to do their best to put an end to issuance of Citizenship to non-indigenes and if possible, revoke the ones already issued out in error.

The *Chairman* Ilorin Emirate Council of Alangua's and Magaji's, *Alh. Aliyu Yusuf, (Alangua Ile-Apa Village)* and the *Publicity Secretary, Alh. Saliu Malomo (Magaji Masudo)* who spoke on behalf of the Council appreciated the leadership of IEYDA for the great job it has being doing in the betterment of the lives of the youths and the State at large, with promises that they will do their best in putting a stop to this act, and pledged their fatherly supports to IEYDA.
