Okada/Keke Ban: NURTW Chairman, MC Oluomo In Talks With Lagos Government Over Ban

The Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Lagos State, Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, has spoken up about the recent ban on Okada and Keke Napep in Lagos state.
MC Oluomo revealed that the association was in discussion with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu over the ban which took effect from Saturday, February 1,2020.
The ban which also affects bike-hailing services like MAX, ORide and Gokada has led to protests from some of the companies, demanding for the regulation and not ban of their services
The Lagos State government had stated that Apapa, Yaba, Surulere, Ikeja, Lagos Island, Ikoyi Obalende, Lagos Mainland, Itire-Ikate and Coker-Aguda are restricted areas for bikes and keke napep.
MC Oluomo speaking to newsmen through his aide, Jimoh Buhari, said his team is in meeting with the state government to review the ban on okadas and keke napep in the state.
He revealed that he will also be meeting with bus drivers to persuade them not to increase fares, which could worsen the effect of the ban on commuters
He also said The most important thing, for now, is for the bus drivers not to take advantage of the situation, and that is why we are meeting with them.
